Why Intan's Oven?

From a Home Kitchen to International Recognition

The story of Intan’s Oven is one of passion, perseverance, and community empowerment. It all began in 1999 when Intan Baizura Shuib baked her classic chocolate chip cookies at her apartment in Kuantan Tembeling Resort. The cookies quickly became a hit among friends and family, with requests pouring in after she served them at festive gatherings and social functions.

In 2000, as demand grew, Intan moved to a landed house in Beserah, Kuantan, where she hired local young women to assist with cookie production. With limited resources but unwavering determination, she participated in small trade exhibitions and events, introducing her cookies to a broader audience.

In 2002, Intan took a bold step and opened her first outlet at No. 9, Bangunan LKNP, Jalan Besar in Kuantan town. To keep operations simple with her small team, she introduced a unique self-service café concept, where customers could prepare their own drinks while enjoying her delicious cookies.

To expand her offerings, Intan enrolled in a one-week crash course with a local renowned chef, learning to bake cakes, sweet buns, and prepare local delicacies and drinks. This newfound knowledge allowed her to introduce a variety of cakes and sweet buns alongside her cookies. Soon, her sweet buns were in demand at local gas station shops, school canteens, and cooperative shops, as well as staff canteens at several local factories.

In 2005, Intan’s Oven moved into its own shoplot—Lot No. 3 in the same building—marking a significant milestone. With a growing reputation, she began participating in prestigious national events such as MIHAS (Malaysia International Halal Showcase), MAHA (Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Show), MIFB (Malaysia International Food & Beverage Trade Fair), and Halal Fest.

Her ambitions extended beyond Malaysia. Starting in 2007, Intan promoted her products at international trade events, including Singapore, the Halal Trade Show in Brunei, and China. By 2009, Intan’s Oven began exporting its signature chocolate chip cookies to Dubai, followed by China in 2013, solidifying its place as a globally recognized brand.

From a home kitchen to the international stage, Intan’s Oven continues to inspire with its dedication to quality, innovation, and community empowerment.
